Today we will consider a far from new, but very nice battery pack Mechman 228W from a young Chinese company Rincoe.
The appearance and origin of the Rincoe company itself is a mystery shrouded in darkness, but evil tongues say that behind the logo with incomprehensible squiggles is the well-known hardworking manufacturer Smoant. And here in the lines of the logo the full face of the Cylon begins to appear, and some features of the devices, which I will definitely mention below, become much clearer. But, of course, this is nothing more than guesswork, but the Mechman 228W Mod device itself is certainly much more interesting than any speculation, especially considering its low cost.
It’s worth starting with the fact that the box mod is available in two configurations: with a Mechman Tank, a fairly typical representative of atomizers with replaceable evaporators on the grid, and separately. canadian vape I would like to immediately dissuade you from buying the first option, since according to numerous rumors, it will not be possible to find replacements for it from any other tankomizer, and Rincoe still cannot boast of wide distribution on the domestic market, each time you will have to order evaporators from China. In general, you can find many more interesting and easily accessible options to replace it. I got my hands on a separate box, hidden in a black and green box made of thick cardboard, on the lid of which three design options are depicted (in fact, there are many more, but more on that later), and with a mark on the right at the top indicating which one arrived to me. In this case, with black Steel Case lids (since the background under the inscription is black, otherwise it would be gray) and with a hipster pattern of the flag of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. On the back side you can find a list of the kit, details and links to the manufacturer’s accounts in social networks, a sticker with a serial number and a check of the originality of the SCRATCH ANTI-COUNTERFEITING SYSTEM (the code under the erasable strip will need to be entered here). But the characteristics will have to be looked for in the instructions.

Rincoe MECHMAN 228W Mod kit
The kit turned out to be boring, inside there was only the mod itself, a short micro USB cable 30 cm long, a couple of cardboard boxes and a manual with black and white illustrations for both the mod and the tank (apparently, so as not to “get up twice”) in two languages: English and Chinese. Considering the “possibility of customization”, Ricnoe could have put here at least a couple of stickers or a screwdriver for removing the panel.
Appearance and design of Rincoe Mechman 228W Mod
Rincoe’s device turned out to be impressive both in size and weight, not in every palm Mechman 228W Mod is able to get lost, rather the opposite, the setup with such a device will thoroughly pull the hand. The paint of the case is matte and rough, pleasant to the touch, the relief, protruding elements and roundings are chosen quite competently, nothing digs into the hand or cuts, but at the same time the device lies confidently in the palm and does not tend to slip out. Although the description says that leather is used in the design, there is nothing even resembling it here: under the frame with a print is the most ordinary vinyl or its analogue on a foam backing, thanks to which the surface seems warm and even soft.
The appearance of the device can be called not just brutal (haven’t we seen bricks for two 18650?), but also technological, the side frames resemble either transformers (especially in combination with the picture of a tattered flag), or the exoskeleton of Tony Stark’s battle suit, the only thing missing is a glowing logo in the center. In my personal opinion, in combination with the image behind the frame, the device looks quite interesting and attractive. On the opposite side is the battery compartment cover, the shape repeats the opposite side, but here instead of a print there is a blind panel.
Impressions
Overall, the device is well assembled, works quickly and responsively, does not glitch or freeze, and there are no special comments about it. Except for some nitpicks concerning traces of glue around the magnets, small bald spots of paint at the junction of the lid with the body (there are reviews on the Internet where people complain about an unstable coating), a loose lid and a damp board. Well, and we can’t help but mention the shifted center of gravity – the device often tends to fall on its side in the opposite direction from the lid, both with the batteries installed and without them. Another point cannot be called a complete disadvantage, since this is also far from every device, but I would still like to see: a display of current strength, a stealth mode and automatic power adjustment to the new resistance. You quickly get used to such little things. In general, the manufacturer, despite its short history and not very large assortment, has made a very good start and can already boast a good selection, an unconventional approach to design and good quality of manufacture, but there is still room for growth. The board may not be the most honest, 228 in the name is nothing more than a marketing ploy, and if you want to squeeze everything out of it, you will have to make a winding of 0.2-0.3 Ohm and set the display to maximum. Maybe then you will not run into the actual limit of the microcircuit, which here, it seems, is no more than 40A. I was never able to check this guess, the battery in my favorite Chinese multimeter died happily. The manufacturer just fell a little short of supporting 0.05 Ohm, the board invariably responds to windings of 0.06 and 0.07 Ohm with Shorted, and it raises 0.09 Ohm without any problems. And it “fries” quite decently. True, there are still some doubts about the adequacy of the built-in ohmmeter. I would also like to see a USB Type-C connector on the board, but even the installed micro USB copes well with high-current charging. It is also unclear where to look for replacement panels if they are not even available in the manufacturer’s official store. But you can safely and heartily play around with different stickers.
Rincoe Mechman 228W box mod was announced at the end of spring, the device has long been on the market. But as usual, you just have to look hard enough, and you can find a much more interesting price tag. Moreover, so much so that you can safely close your eyes to many jambs.
