Today’s review is dedicated to the old-fashioned, but at the same time quite new and very convenient tube mod Cthulhu Tube from the Chinese company Cthulhu Mod.
What the manufacturer has incredibly surprised with this time is the rich packaging in the form of a burgundy tube with a textured surface, which has replaced the tin “cans” in which the atomizers were previously delivered. It looks expensive and rich, it is hard to believe that this device is not “overpriced”, but can be easily purchased at “fast” for $ 30. The packaging is sealed in plastic, which performs tamper evident control, on the black sticker on the side you can find links to the manufacturer’s resources on the Internet, the name of the device and the Cthulhu Mod logo, as well as the usual sticker with a check of the originality of the device. However, there are no characteristics, no equipment, no usual warning that the piece of metal contains nicotine. vape shop canada online The black version, which came to me a little later from the manufacturer, also had a round sticker indicating the color. The surprises don’t end there: a small bag is waiting in the tube, in which the mod itself is hidden.

In addition to the device itself, you can find instructions in six languages, including machine translation and a slightly stupid Russian translation (“screw the cap counterclockwise” – we are talking about what needs to be unscrewed), but in this case it is still worth reading the manual and warnings: the website and the instructions indicate one parameter, and the piece of paper with warnings indicates another, or more precisely, the lower threshold of the supported resistance.
If you have a feeling of déjà vu when looking at the Cthulhu Tube, you are not alone, the device actually quite strongly resembles the well-known “bird” from Russian modders – Colibri Mod. This is the same tube mod with a side button and a board designed to protect the user and the battery “in case of anything”, and a very simple and minimalistic design. And a funny Cthulhu logo at the bottom, which evokes associations not with the evil monster from the works of Lovecraft, but more with the octopus from the old Soviet cartoon. The surface of the mod has a slightly matte, “satin” texture, i.e. it looks like the device was not polished after turning, but it is precisely thanks to the invisible stripes from the cutter that the tube does not slip in the palm of your hand, but pleasantly “rustles” and makes a sound under your nails, like a vinyl record. The company produces two versions of the device – unpainted stainless steel (unfortunately, the steel grade is not specified) and an anodized black coating, which has already been improved since the launch of the device.

Berserker MTL RTA (24 mm) on Cthulhu Tube ModFirst of all, the device is interesting because for a small price you get a “protected mechanical mod” (in fact, it is still an electronic mod with some protections, but it works exactly like a mechanical one, i.e. it gives off all the voltage on the battery), also with a side button, a universal format (18650 and 18350), which is great for creating a compact bundle with MTL atomizers. The device is made just great (let me remind you, this is a sample purchased at the fast, and not sent for review), the processing is excellent, the presentation is generally a sight to behold, many manufacturers of expensive original devices can envy such beauty. The only thing I didn’t like about the device was its 24 mm diameter, but for a real “old school” I would like to see not just a 22 mm fit, but a tube of this diameter, in my opinion, the same Berserker MTL RTA looks much better here than the Kayfun Prime. But this is just a matter of taste, the Cthulhu Tube works great with both. The Wake RTA with a 0.12 Ohm coil also started up without any problems, no matter what the manufacturer wrote in its warning. True, I tested this combination for a short time and with some apprehension, you never know, “reliable Chinese electronics” will die right in my hands. Otherwise, the device requires quite careful handling: the board can easily be damaged if the lid is squeezed, but it is no longer afraid of liquid (according to Cthulhu Mod). But there is no shutdown or basic over-discharge protection, I purposefully (there was practically no steam), but still managed to drain the battery to 2.2 V. So just keep an eye on the amount of steam your atomizer produces. I would also like the pipe to be non-detachable, and the kit to include two glasses, each for its own battery. But these are just personal “wants”.
