The market of “mechanical engineering” is vast today: new interesting examples appear, older devices are brought to more modern preferences. And in this article I would like to share my opinion about the device from the capital of the neighboring country, which is produced by the guys from the Stellar Union Company. And its name is Hydra V1.5.
A group of guys, having joined forces under the beautiful name “Star Union”, decided that it was time to make something of their own, unlike their competitors in the market. Thoughts, drawings, samples … And now, finally, their brainchild has taken shape, finally it can and should be touched with hands. And in order to stand out even more, an interesting name is needed – one that can reflect the nature of the device. vaporizer canada And why not borrow it from Greek mythology and call your creation Hydra in honor of the snake-like monster, and at the same time come up with a successful logo? And so it was done. Now closer to the point.
The fur falls into the hands of a potential user in a tin can. Yes, yes, exactly in it! On this type of container there is a sticker, where the following is honestly indicated: the name of the manufacturer, the name of the device itself, the type of material (aluminum or brass – here before buying, decide for yourself what is most comfortable for you to use), the type of coating (“bare” metal or coating with wear-resistant gun paint “Taiga”). As a nice bonus, there was also a greeting from the guys on my can – very nice!
I hope everyone knows how to open such cans? We lift the ring and pull the tin part. After the manipulation, we see a foam filler, inside which the mechanical mod itself, the operating instructions, and also the originality card are located. In terms of presentation, I really liked everything, creativity level 80!
Characteristics of Hydra V1.5
Diameter: 24 mm;
height: 100 mm (in the “idle” state), 105 mm (in working condition);
weight: 190 grams (this figure applies to the brass version of the device);
battery type used: 18650;
button format: external;
button mechanism: spring.
And here is the bellows in your hand. Quite weighty. Very pleasant to the touch thanks to the gunmetal coating “Taiga” (as for durability – time will tell). What immediately catches the eye is the size: the device itself is really quite long, but not many people find this fact very critical (only a little for me – I am a supporter of more compact tubes). But overall, so far I really like everything!
I will not make an exception and will start a detailed examination of the device from the top. Here is a standard hybrid connector with a diameter for landing of 24 mm. Also on it is the name of the mech, the logo of the manufacturer with a single star, as well as the serial number (mine is 01003 – not at all “blatnaya”, and somehow it doesn’t matter).
Next, I would like to dwell on the tube, or rather its shape. Unfortunately, I do not have the device of the previous version, so it will not be possible to compare the improvements (or vice versa). I will rely on the copy in my hands. The tube is made with 2 grooves and with a noticeable narrowing in the central part for a more comfortable grip (this is again purely intimate – I prefer a regular flat surface). Inside the case is bare brass with protection against “idle” pressing and a fairly long threaded part. There is nothing to complain about – everything is done very well and conscientiously.
And, of course, here is the button. In its upper part we can immediately see the part of the contact that will touch the battery. It is made in a rather interesting form: it is a kind of “bolt” with a thread at the bottom, which has a through hole for the release of gases and a special shape of the cap. This shape is made so that when assembling/disassembling/working this part of the device, everything “lies” in its place and does not move to the sides. In the body of the button, of course, there is a special recess, where this “bolt” fits perfectly.
This button is notable for its locking system. When screwed in, your mech will never start working on its own — safety is paramount. By unscrewing the lower part little by little, you can adjust the desired stroke of the element yourself. Well, if you unscrew the push-button part completely (by the way, it has a beautiful picture of a mythical monster and a duplicate ventilation hole from the “bolt”), then we immediately have access to the spring (I will note that it is quite soft, does not require huge efforts for complete compression). There are absolutely no questions about the quality of the threads and the fit of the parts — the quality is at a high level.
If from more, then this is all I would like to tell you about the design. Regarding the batteries — a standard high-current element of the 18650 format, “+” up or down — it is up to you to decide (the “cooling” hole is at the bottom — here everyone will draw their own conclusions and make a decision). There is no anti-short-circuit spacer or constant contact here, so be prepared for the appearance of traces of an electric arc (the spacer for the mod can be purchased from the guys separately).
Since the Hydra V1.5 mech mod has the most common diameter of 24 mm today, your favorite atomizers of this type will sit here as they should. For example, the 528 Custom Vapes Goon RDA 24mm Brass dripper sits perfectly in its designated place.
Also an interesting point is the assembled device with an atomizer and battery. With the power element inside and the button screwed in (you shouldn’t apply much force in this procedure), the mech has another notch between the pipe and the button. Honestly, I didn’t understand why this was done, because it was easy to do without it. But after some time of use, it becomes clear that this is a purely aesthetic feature – only for appearance. Well, if it’s done this way, then it must be so.
Conclusions
Let’s sum it up. The guys from Stellar Union certainly deserve respect for their enormous work, and their Hydra V1.5 device turned out to be quite interesting. Of course, there are some nitpicks on my part, but they are only subjective and do not push you to listen to them. In general, everything is fine. And if you take into account the price of the mech mod – 3390 Russian rubles for the brass version in “Taiga” – you know, there will not be so many competitors left in this segment.
