In today’s review, we will look at the result of the collaboration between the Russian hardware manufacturer Vulcan Mods and the YouTuber md. Troy – a mech mod called Lascar.
There are no fewer examples of joint work on the vaping market, devices born with the participation of more or less well-known reviewers are released with enviable regularity. Here, the famous “Stakhanovite” Wotofo stands out, these guys have been recently making almost every device with the mark “collaboration between Wotofo and …”, but today we are not talking about them. The banner of “collaborators” has long been eagerly picked up by domestic manufacturers, somewhere using design, somewhere constructive solutions, and somewhere just someone’s good name, in order to jointly promote another product. vape pod system The Vulcan Mods company, which previously released the Vesuvius mod and is familiar to readers of our site from the Laki V2, also decided to create its new mech mod together with the popular Russian reviewer Pasha md. Troy, on whose channel the device with the name of the Chilean stratovolcano Lascar was presented in July.
It has already become a good tradition for mechanics to sell their devices in original, unusual-looking packages, in this case the mod comes to you in an oval box made of laser-burned plywood. The surfaces are quite sparingly covered with stain (in Pasha “Troy” in the video the box is somehow noticeably darker), on the front side you can see the Vulcan Mods logo in the form of a volcano with an ash cloud and the name of the mech mod itself Lascar, on the back side they put the logo of the md. There should also be a round sticker with color, but whether it was there at all and where it went, frankly, I have no idea. The box opens in the place where the inscription LASCAR is located, you need to grab two small recesses on the sides and pull the lid up. The box is wonderful in all aspects, you won’t be ashamed to put it even on a shelf, but it is advisable to hide it behind glass or on the balcony, because the wood covered with stain has a persistent smell of either that burning volcano or smoked sausage. However, in the fresh air the “aroma” disappears quite quickly.
Inside, you’ll find a strangely curved instruction manual (even if you fold it along the folds, it still won’t fit into the box) and the usual gift from the company: a handmade case made of thick material with a leather patch on the flap. There’s a loop sewn on the back so you can hang the case on your belt, put your mechanical mod in there, and unload your pockets.

The appearance and design of the Lascar mech mod
The LASCAR mech mod with 18650 batteries (left) in the adapter and 21700
The new mod has clearly increased in size compared to previous devices from Vulcan Mods, in the widest places (the button area and the upper “knob”) the diameter of the device reaches 29 mm, in the narrowest for palm grip – 25 mm. Together with a decent height and a rather ornate shape, undoubtedly convenient for holding (you can take it both in the center and lower, closer to the pusher), but already more reminiscent of either an RPG-43 or a baluster, the device also has a pretty decent weight: with a battery and an atomizer, your setup will weigh about the same as a three-battery mech mod.
It is impossible not to note the interesting paintwork of the case with ceracote with “speckles”, matte and two-color with gradient transitions, thanks to which all these chamfers, protrusions and differences cease to be noticed, and Lascar looks very organic. The chamfers near the recess are especially interestingly designed: the downward bevels are painted black, the upward ones – blue. By the way, apparently the spots were applied last, they are slightly embossed, clearly visible even on a black background, which further improves the grip.
The manufacturer offers its customers four similar colors: black and white, black and blue, black and red and black and turquoise (Tiffany), all with chaotically applied black spots.
Limited versions of the Lascar Totem Edition with deep engravings all over the case, twenty copies of each, are also released separately. Inside, everything is the same as in the regular version, but the price for such a design will be almost twice as high.

LASCAR mech mod connector Wake RDA (24 mm) on LASCAR mech mod
The device body tapers to a 24 mm diameter connector, there is a tray on the platform that prevents your drippers (or maybe tanks, or even clearomizers, who knows) from sticking and protects batteries from flooding. There is a deep engraving in the tray with the serial number and name of the device. Of all the devices tested, the problem with the connector arose only with the Dripka RDA, but here I blame the dripper more than the mod, it was difficult to screw on not only on the Lascar.
Impressions and conclusions
Aromamizer Plus RDTA (30 mm) on Lascar ModI have some non-critical, but still complaints about the build quality and paintwork. The surfaces and threads in the device look impeccable, but the randomly appearing creak when twisting the two halves of the case and the distinct crunch when pressing the button do not quite match the external beauty and neatness of the device. Yes, most likely the button will work out, but … There are also comments on the height of the device. Here it is necessary to understand that it is primarily designed to work from a 21700 battery (from 20700 of course, too, only such a rattle can quickly get boring), but, for example, the same El Thunder 21700 is almost a centimeter lower. The decent thickness of the case and the massiveness of the whole device should have a positive effect on conductivity, but the weight with a battery and atomizer of about 300 g (“Weight is good, weight is reliable!”) and a diameter of 29 mm in the wide part seem frankly excessive, the platform for the drip tip could have been made a couple of millimeters larger. For fun, I even screwed the Aromamizer Plus RDTA here and … “Perfect!” – that’s all I could say. A joke. On the other hand, such a massive device will heat up more slowly, however, and cool down more slowly. The appearance can be safely called “an acquired taste”, the developers clearly did not just try to make the device convenient to hold, but also add some elements not for the sake of functionality, but just for beauty. Even if it looks grenade-shaped, it is debatable. I would like to see a silver-plated contact group in the Lascar Mod, as it was in the Laki V2, but even considering three threads in the current path (connector, case connection and screw in the pusher) there are no problems with bare brass, everything works great, and it is easy and simple to clean. The solution with replaceable positive contacts can be called very convenient, it will take only a few seconds to prepare the device with another battery (not counting the search for this pin somewhere in your bins). Lascar fits perfectly in the hand, has constant contact and fries like a real volcano, in general, it copes with the task perfectly. The manufacturer can be praised both for the nice paintwork and for the nice perks in the kit in the form of two coils and a case that can be attached to the belt.
